2021 MMC CLOCK HOURS
Participants in the Michigan Music Conference - An In-Service for Music Educators (MMC) may register to receive State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs) for events attended at the conference.
The Michigan Music Education Association (MMEA) is the official sponsor of Clock Hours at MMC.
If you already paid/registered to receive Clock Hours, you will receive the form upon your check-in at the registration desk. Please refer to the listing of events to see the Clock Hours available for individual events: Clock Hour Schedule
Fee
A flat fee of $25 is required for the administration of all Clock Hours earned. You may purchase your Clock Hours ahead of time with your registration, or you may purchase onsite at the conference.
How Clock Hours are Determined
The new term, "State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs)," now refers to the number of hours you spend attending a session. The number of clock hours spent in a session is the exact number of clock hours you will be granted. A minimum of 3 contact hours is required to earn credit. You can earn no more than 23 hours for your attendance at the MMC. Please refer to the listing of events to see the State Continuing Education Contact Hours (SCECH) available for individual events.
Clock Hour Eligibility Form
The Clock Hour Eligibility forms are available at the registration desk. If you pre-registered for Clock Hours, you will be given the form with your registration. Your form must be initialed by the presider or student monitor at the beginning of each session. Failure to do this will result in loss of earned clock hours. Complete the form and turn it into the Clock Hour desk before you leave the conference. We cannot accept forms mailed to us following the conference.
Receiving Your Hours
At the conclusion of the MMC all forms will be reviewed for accuracy. Please make sure your first name, last name, PIC number and email address EXACTLY match the login information for your State of MI MOECS account. If these do not match your hours will not be successfully uploaded with the Department of Education. 1-2 weeks after the MMC you will receive an email from the Department of Education prompting you to complete a survey. Upon completion of this survey your hours will be awarded and will appear in your online account. You must complete this survey to receive your hours.
Session Sign-in
Teachers are only required to engage in a one-time identification method at each professional development workshop to earn their clock hours. However, meetings with multiple sessions must have attendance taken at each session. Conference attendees shall still be required to sign-in at each session they attend but they are no longer required to sign-out. What does this mean for attendees at the MMC? It means that a “presider” will still meet you at the door of each session you attend and initial your SCECH form in the boxes provided. When the session is finished you do NOT need to obtain a second set of “exit” initials. MMC attendees must still follow all MMC clock hour guidelines.
Michigan Department of Education
The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is beginning the process of merging the Secure Central Registry (SCR) into the Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS). Currently, clock hours are organized online through your username and email address. However, when you register for an MOECS account you also receive a PIC number. This PIC number will now be the critical piece of information in maintaining your online records.
Beginning November 14, 2015, educators without a PIC number may still earn SCECHs...but the MDE will NOT keep track of these hours. Rather, workshop/conference attendees without a PIC number will receive a certificate of completion at the conclusion of any SCECH program, and will be required to keep these for their records as proof of attendance.
What does this mean for you? If you do not currently have a PIC number, go online and obtain one ASAP. If you have an MOECS account but have forgotten your PIC number, go online and find your number. In either instance, please visit www.michigan.gov/moecs. In addition, anyone signing up for SCECHs must now provide their PIC number at the time of the workshop/conference/etc. Failure to provide this number will result in the issuance of a completion certificate, NOT online hours.
On December 8 & 9, 2015, the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) will be merging the Secure Central Registry (SCR) into the Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS). Both the SCR and MOECS will be down and unavailable to everyone on both dates.
